School's Out
Ok...so it's the first day that both of my teenagers are home for the summer. I figured that this year would be a breeze, as one of them has a car. Ohhhh noooo.....with gas prices skyrocketing, what kid has the money to cruise the streets as we did in the 80's? I have offered money for gas, but unfortunately I get "where would we go?" "what would we do?", have I really created uncreative homebodies?? Am I not mean and evil enough to warrant a day by myself??
I should mention that I work from home. I am in sales...and where there are no sales calls to go on...here I am in my office. Usually Monday's and Friday's are paperwork days, filled with e-mail, forecasting, phone calls and coffee. Today was filled with "he said/she said" "what can we do now?" "I'm hungry" "Can I paint my room?" etc. Delightful, eh? I now make them e-mail me their complaints/questions/comments, etc.
My poor dogs are even going crazy....no longer can they lie by my door looking at me, as the door has to be shut so that I can avoid the kids. I hear whimpers from them when I don't hear whining from the others.
The last straw today was walking into the kitchen at 6:30pm to make some dinner and smelling sulfur. I thought that couldn't be, but of course it could...when your kids are roasting marshmallows with matches to make s'mores!! I suppose tomorrow I will send them an e-mail about what food preparation techniques are acceptable in the house.
